Overall Exporter of The Year

This category is not open for entries but will be selected by the judges.

Purpose of Competition

To ensure that the Overall Exporter of The Year Award really does identify the best of the best in our regions exporters, not only have we included the shortlisted winners of each of the award categories in this year's North East Exporters Awards, but also the winners of the other key export awards that have taken place in the region during the past 12 months. This includes the export awards winners from the North East Business Awards, the Women Entrepreneur Awards, the North East Process Industry Cluster (NEPIC) and NOF Energy.

Judging Criteria

In determining the winner, the judges will take the following factors into account:

  • Product range being exported.
  • Complexity and number of markets served. *
  • Company/team performance.
  • Obstacles/barriers to success.
  • Development of export strategy.
  • Percentage of growth in export sales.
  • Staff development measures undertaken.

*Including serving more complex and more lucrative high growth markets. High growth markets are as follows: Brazil, China, Columbia, Egypt, Hong Kong, India, Indonesia, Malaysia, Mexico, Qatar, Russia, Saudi Arabia, Singapore, S.Africa, S.Korea, Taiwan, Thailand, Turkey, UAE and Vietnam.

Eligibility

The competition is not open to the category sponsors or Trinity Mirror North East publications.

General

The awards will be presented at the North East Exporters' dinner on Thursday 15th June at Ramside Hall Hotel, County Durham. The awards are a partnership between NEECC, Port of Tyne and ncjMedia. All staff from these partner organisations are excluded from this competition. Any entrant related to any member of the partnership organisations involved in the judging panel is obliged to disclose this fact as soon as it is known.
